Had our frame check yesterday and everything seems to be right on track. We had a bit of a hitch with the entry to the Great Room as the bulkhead was really low but it's now being moved up another 4 ½ inches to make it a bit more reasonable. Also, one of the lights in the kitchen wasn't placed properly above the breakfast bar, but besides that, everything seemed to be exactly as expected.
The basement isn't going to be finished by the builder, but the Site Supervisor actually told use what his experience has been for the best options to close off the basement and finish it. it definitely started our imaginations working again so I don't think it will be too long before we start looking to wall in parts of the basement.
Now that we've picked the locations for the cable and phones, it really put thing into perspective. To place these things properly you need to picture your furniture in you mind and standing in a room imagining how you will live in it definitely gets you brain working in overdrive.
Hopefully with the frame check done things will continue to proceed the way they have and we will stay on track for a December closing.
Thanks to Brad Babineau for taking the time out of his busy day to help us go through the house and understand what's going to be behind the walls. For anyone doing a frame check down the road I would definitely recommend they bring someone in with building experience who can go through everything at this point to make sure nothing is being missed. I have heard people recommend bringing building inspectors, and that could be a good idea as well, but my experience has been that often building inspectors think about things structurally and not how your going to live in it. Aesthetics is important at this stage and though a bulk head might be structurally sound and well build, placement might be wrong for your needs and future look to your rooms.
